I don't typically think of going to a soup place during the summer, but I stopped by on the way to work one afternoon anyways. Winter or Summer, rain or shine, Ladles has what you need. I ordered the melon basil soup, which was a crisp and refreshing chilled soup, in addition to the caprese sandwich. Both were light and refreshing, which is exactly what I was looking forward to on a hot summer day. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, even when it looked like they were in the weeds. Keeping it real, Ladles.

Creative soups and sandwiches. Friendly staff. The cold soups are delightful on a warm summer day. Cucumber dill, gazpacho, etc.

Watermelon gazpacho was excellent. Sandwiches are good and service was great. Nice place to enjoy lunch out of the heat.

We arrived in the late evening at our Seabrook rental just wanting a quick dinner. First off- nothing is quick at Fresh Fields on Saturday evenings in the summer. It's move in evening for the week long rentals and it's kind of the only game in town. We were directed here by a gentleman on the sidewalk. It was just what we wanted, a choice of soups and specialty sandwiches. The kids really liked their chicken noodle soup- not Campbell's by any stretch, but they appreciated the quality. The adults both had the She Crab soup and split a turkey bacon sandwich. The She Crab soup was delicious. Definitely enough for a meal in itself. It came with a mini loaf of store made bread and butter. The sandwich was really good too. I enjoyed the soup so much we came back again later in the week just to get another bowl!

It's great when you can find a restaurant that serves delicious homemade chilled soups for lunch. Three of us had lunch at Ladles yesterday, fresh from the beach and starving. Their soup and half sandwich pairings hit the spot. I had the watermelon gazpacho that was so refreshing, with just a slight kick from scallions and finished off perfectly with cilantro. I paired mine with an egg salad sandwich seasoned with dill. Yummy! My lunch mates opted for hot soups - she crab and tomato basil with grilled cheese sandwiches. They loved theirs while I was simply in heavy consuming every last drop of my gazpacho

Love this place they have 14 different kinds of soup and many salads and interesting sandwich combinations. it's a great concept for a chain restaurant wish they had these near me in Pennsylvania

Ladles is a great quick, inexpensive and delicious lunch option for Kiawah & Seabrook residents in gorgeous Freshfields Village. They also offer quarts of soup to go which make for a convenient take-home option. Their menu has anywhere from 8-12 soups you can choose from daily including traditional favorites like garden vegetable, tomato basil, and loaded potato but also monthly/daily specials such as chilled soups for the summer which is brilliant. They also have a number of sandwiches such as grilled cheese or a club on breads such as wheat, rye or pretzel bread (yum!). Their salads are actually delicious, so I recommend a soup/salad combo. I had a tomato mozzarella salad which is like a mini caprese on mixed spring greens, but really nice quality spring greens with a balsamic. Lovely! My husband enjoyed his club and tomato basil soup. My only disclaimer is I really didn't like the she crab soup which was a little slimy and not sherry-enough for me. For the best She Crab soup I've ever tasted, head up the road to Chez Fish. The place has some casual tables indoors or outdoor dining if you have your pooch with you. The service is extremely friendly and quick.

Great soup and wonderful choices! We had she crab soup, vegetable soup, and broccoli cheddar soup - all we're very flavorful. We also had the tomato basil salad - it was fresh and delicious - served with a tasty vinaigrette. Would definitely return for more - when in the neighborhood!

Terrible service ... Inexcusable wait ... Very little selection (they were out of everything) We waited 30 minutes for a non-homeade soup and small garden salad. I would have thought for the location (near Kiawah Island) the quality and service would have been much higher.

How disappointing!! For a $28 (!!!) lunch, my mom and I got some soup and a teeny side on plastic ware. Soup was just broth - no exotic ingredients and not especially tasty. We did receive a beyond stale dinner roll as well. Service was terrible. Counter lady did not greet us and we waited almost 10 minutes for her to gather a 'to go' order before even acknowledging us. We just moved down the street and unfortunately I will never go here again. My only hope is that this place will move out and an establishment that is concerned with decent food and decent service at a decent price will move in, because Ladles has none of the above.

Reasonable prices and tasty food in a location where the two aren't commonly found together. I always like to get their Caprese Sandwich.

Ladles, is amazing best food in fresh fields, the soup is great. I get their Greek lemon chicken soup it's amazing, all their soups are great. But their special soups are the so good too their sandwiches are smart, brie caprese, grilled cheese and you can get a hotdog. It's cheap and very good, it's one of my favorite lunch places!

Ladles is a true gem, located in the Fresh Fields shopping village just outside the Kiawah Island entrance. Perhaps easy to overlook, as its a fav among the locals and part year transplants around Kiawah and Seabrook. I had my doubts at first about buffalo chicken soup, which is now my personal go to. The staff have always been super friendly to chat with, even showing us the huge blue cheese wheel imported from Denmark for my fav soup after my wife (the forever foodie) started chatting about how much she loves the food and its ingredients with them. The sampler plate of four soups is a good place to start. The half and half with the ladles grilled cheese is some serious comfort food. Quite a few vegetarian options too. Most days they serve beer, though they have been out a few times recently. Overall, this is a 5 star place for soup and sandwiches.

I think I made the mistake of ordering the shirmp ceasar salad which was the special of the day instead of their soup. My salad was blah but the soup that came with it was awesome. I wanted more soup but I just have no room for it. The salad was pricey for $9.95 with 4 pcs for grilled shrimps. I would go back again for their soup nothing else. Service was nice, fast and friendly!

Everything about our visit here was stellar. The man behind the counter was SO friendly, the soups we sampled and eventually bought were SO delicious, and it was just a perfect meal. Ladles offers a variety of different soups, and best of all lets you sample before you buy so you can try new things. They have all sorts - seafood soups, a turkey bacon soup, potato soup, various vegetable soups and cold soups such as a cold strawberry soup that stands out in my mind. Despite sampling some delicious things, boyfriend and I had to go with our classic soup favorites - She Crab soup for me, Chicken Noodle for him. Both were fantastic, and came out quickly and piping hot. The soups were reasonably priced for this area. For anyone shopping in Freshfields, I definitely recommend stopping by here for a delicious, satisfying soup. Also, if its hot out, you can buy a cold strawberry soup, buy some liquor next door and make a great drink!

Terrible service and canned quality soup. We waited 45 minutes for what appeared to be Campbell's. Maybe we caught them on an off day but we won't go back. Apparently they bank on the tourists and one time visits.

Great quick lunch spot. Especially with the weather at the freezing mark. Tons of soup choices and a great BLT on pretzel to compliment the She Crab.
